or two at a time…

one-at-a-time

I’ve spent a lifetime working for big brands that waste money, materials and their souls in building big inventories, to force lots of cash to flow - all in the pursuit of what I no longer understand.

So, we are doing it the simplest way we know how. We get an inspiration, try it and if everyone in our small circle likes it, we put it on this site, see if you like it and want to buy it.

When you do, we build it.

the one thing

From the book The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, Bard Press 2013

There are many recommendable quotes in this book, especially Mr. Keller’s central theme: “The Clarifying Question”.

But what struck me, and pulls me to recommend this book to all my maker friends is this from page 179:

“The path to mastering something is..not only doing it the best you can, but doing it the best it can be done.”

the best it can be done

This is both bodacious and inspiring….so when we’re making any DOWN HANKY product, we always have this value in the front of mind.

This is a great product, but it is more than that - it’s a way of doing things which constantly improves because making it the best it can be made is the reason it’s being done in the first place.

Hence, all the patience it takes to hot cut, or to finish the zig-zags with a hand stitch are not a tedious annoyance to be overcome, but the end result of observing closely and asking, “Is this the best is can be done?”

And when the answer is, “Yes”, then - you guessed it - we make the improvement because we’ve seen something we’ve never noticed before and it’s beautiful.
