DESCRIPTION

This is the traditional down vest like the one Eddie Bauer patented in the 1940’s - but with a twist: while the rest of the down-filled “industry” likes to hide the fact that there is natural lightweight insulation inside, we like to shout about it! So you can see through the lightweight ripstop to reveal the real reason our vest is so toasty warm. Simple down-filled handwarmer pockets, snap front, and subtle but stylish “western” yoke quilt line pattern. The back is cut a tad bit longer to cover the top of the tush, filling that drafty backside space.

Translucent down proof nylon ripstop (exclusive to us) is filled with 850 fill-power grey goose down. Yes, you can see the feathers - that’s the whole idea. The fill is sufficient for warmth and light enough to enhance the Simple. Lightweight. Warm experience. Unless otherwise specified, stitching “baffles” are sewn of random colors strategically placed to hold the goose down in place - just enough.

  VARIATIONS

  • Size: Our sizing is pretty traditional, nothing tricky. If you have another outer vest or jacket that you like, order that size. If you aren’t satisfied, or you have a special concern, please send us an email: info@downhanky.com

  • Color: All of our shell fabrics are the same translucent color. You can choose from the following random thread color combinations. Each item it a on-of-a-kind thread color combination.

    • PLAIN: all of the quilt stitching is a matching neutral color.

    • PARTY: anything goes, including neon colors.

    • PHUN: tasteful, colorful, but nothing too outrageous.

  • Fill: we use super-warm 850 fill power and we use just enough in our TEMPERATE fill to keep you warm in most situations in most areas of the planet. But if you are concerned about warmth, order VERMONT, which, like it says, is for colder climes.
